Just a short boat ride away from the south coast of Thailand lie the six islands of Ko Phi Phi. Of these Ko Phi Phi Don is the only island that is inhabited. Known to be one of the world’s scuba diving hot spots, the waters around ko Phi Phi are home to masses of colourful coral reefs, and a wide variety of marine life including the hawksbill turtle, the reef shark, and the leopard shark.
There are several scuba diving centers on the island, which cater to all levels from beginner to advanced. Tourists can get their diving licence on the island, and all the diving centers on the island offer the same prices for their dives.
Visit “The Beach”, Maya Bay
It is easy to get a boat to the nearby national park. This island is home to Maya Bay, which is famous for being the set for the movie “The Beach.” A few years ago Maya Bay was getting a bad reputation for having been spoilt by tourists leaving rubbish behind. It has since been cleaned up and it is now the responsibility of travelers to leave nothing behind.
Try Cliff Jumping
For the really adventurous traveler, there is the option of a cliff jumping trip, which involves a tour around the island, with an experienced guide to point out the safest places to jump from the cliff tops into the sea.

Go snorkelling. It is much cheaper that scuba diving, and allows you to see the amazing marine life. Snorkelling trips to nearby Bamboo Island go from 450 Baht.
Rent a Kayak. It’s costs between 500-800 baht to rent a kayak for a day, and besides being great fun it allows you to find other beaches around the island, including the beautiful monkey beach.
